Class: Edge-to-Edge Quilting

Join Marietta to learn how to quilt your own projects on your embroidery machine! Come to class with a panel, quilt top, or table runner top sandwiched with batting and ready to go.  Marietta will show you how to mark your project, hoop it up, and move from section to section until the quilting is all done!  See homework instructions below to prepare for class.  Confident beginner level.

In an effort to keep classes affordable, we ask that you purchase all supplies and materials from We're In Stitches.  Before purchasing materials, check to make sure that the class minimum of 3 students has been met. Students are eligible for a 10% discount on supplies purchased for class; online customers should make a note at checkout listing name of class and which items apply to have the discount applied manually.

By signing up for a class, you agree to in-class photography, which we use on our social media to promote the class experience to others.

Supplies:

Quilt sandwich ready for quilting (see below)

Embroidery machine with the largest hoop you have (design must fit in the hoop)


***If you have a sewing/embroidery combo machine, please bring both your embroidery foot and your regular zigzag sewing foot.

Quilting design loaded on USB stick or embroidery machine (check that you have the right format for your machine!)

Embroidery thread to match your project (You will use the same thread on top and in the bobbin)


Snack to eat during class, if desired

Homework:

1. Before class, you will need to make the project that you plan to quilt.  You could use a simple panel or you could stitch up a small project (table runner to lap quilt size)

2. Cut your batting and backing fabric as follows: 

*Measure your project. 

*Add 6-8 inches to the length and width.  Use this new size to cut your batting and backing. 

*When you center your project on top, you will have 3-4" batting and backing showing around all four sides.  (The excess will be trimmed after quilting, but is needed for hooping during class.)

3. You may choose to spray your batting lightly with 505 spray adhesive to keep your quilt sandwich together, if desired...but ONLY SPRAY THE BATTING, NOT THE FABRIC. 

4. Bring your prepared quilt sandwich to class with your other supplies.
